Lasik & Beyond
A finely controlled laser light is used to delicately shape the Cornea and is most commonly done by using a flap which is created by either a microblade or a bladeless laser and then lifted and hinged like the hatch on a submarine to apply the reshaping laser. The flap is then laid back into its original position and heals in place quickly.
In select patients, laser vision correction is also possible without creating a flap. The procedure just takes a few minutes and only requires eye drops afterwards to help it heal.
New state-of-the-art procedures, beyond LASIK, that may correct near vision and distance vision may be available for you. One of these procedures is Smile LASIK.
